Pitre's red-shirt denied

| | Comments (0) |

UCLA fullback Michael Pitre had his petition for a sixth year of eligibility denied, meaning his college eligibility is over. Here is a release from UCLA, which includes a few other notes:

Wide receivers Marcus Everett and Gavin Ketchum have had their petitions for a substitute year of eligibility due to injury approved. Everett will be a fifth-year senior for the 2008 season while Ketchum will be a fourth-year junior.

Defensive tackle Brigham Harwell’s petition is still pending.

Michael Pitre’s petition was denied. Pitre has hired an agent (Mike Abadir of SAPROS Sports Management) and will be working out in anticipation of the 2008 NFL Draft, hoping to be selected or sign as a free agent based on his workouts..

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
