Future Bruins

This is part of a release from Grassroots Basketball of America. The organization is hosting a tournament at USC this weekend, and there will be some UCLA commits that are scheduled to play. The following is the info from the GBOA:

The NBA and NCAA are pushing to sustain and improve
grassroots (AAU) basketball in the United States. As a result, top
grassroots coaches in the country bonded together within a new
organization, Grassroots Basketball of America (r) (GBOA). The
organization has created the 2008 GBOA Hoops League and championship
tournament to bring the top 64 grassroots basketball teams from across
the nation together. The season begins with four regional tournaments,
and the first of these is this coming weekend, May 3-4, at the Galen
Center on the campus of USC. Top teams in this region will qualify for
the champions tournament later this summer in Chicago Throughout, all
participants will be exposed to the organization’s commitment to
changing the system with mandated skill development clinics, minimum
academic requirements and total transparency.

Among Bruin-commits
playing this weekend is Reeves Nelson from Modesto Christian
(recruiting
class of 2009) and Kendall Williams from Los Osos (recruiting class of
2010). There’s also several players in both the ’09 and ’10 class that
have expressed interest in UCLA that are playing this weekend: Jeremy Taylor,
Tyler Lamb and Chase Tapley, among others.
