Answers, Part IV
Here is the fourth set:
How have Sheller, Glicksberg and Savage looked when performing with the first team offensive line? Has anyone on the second team offensive line such as Harris stood out?
Savage has looked the best of the three. He has good footwork and is strong. Sheller needs to get much, much stronger and tougher, and Glicksberg needs to get bigger and play tougher. And no one on the second line is catching the eye of the coaching staff -- for good things.
Has Kevin Craft looked like he can be an effective quarterback at UCLA if called upon next year? What are his strengths and weaknesses?
After seeing him for four practices (I missed the first five because of basketball) I am not qualified to make the assessment of whether or not he can be effective. His strengths are mobility, good release, understanding of football (coach’s son, ya’ know) and work ethic. His weaknesses is arm strength, lack of experience and still learning the offense.
What is your opinion on the ditch day? Especially since CRN specifically told them NOT to do it. Do you think Coach Neuheisel will end this "Tradition"? I just cant believe a 6-7 team with a new coach would do this.
I think it is an out-dated, silly tradition. These kids are there to play football first, and then deal with the academics. To blow off a day of practice when the time to practice is so limited is a complete joke, in my opinion. It is the mentality of doing it, not the act of it. And I think everybody has seen the last of the ditch day tradition.
Who are some of the marquee recruits coming in for this Saturday's Junior Day?
I’m told a few are Narbonne S Bryon Moore, Bakersfield West OL David Born, Upland QB Josh Nunes, Arroyo Valley OL Michael Philipp, Crespi WR Kevin Cummings, Traft LB Nick Bruce, Los Osos QB Richard Brehaut, Bishop Amat DB Sheldon Price, Lynwood and LB Kevin Ayers.
What are the names of the recruits who were visiting and witnessed the ditch-day practice?
I do not have a list of them.
Aboya, Keefe, Gordon. those are the three big men who are likely going to be around next season, barring a change of heart from Luc or Love. if you had to guess the depth chart for these guys next year, what would it be?
First of all, I think Luc Richard Mbah a Moute has a better chance of being around than Alfred Aboya. But, given your question, I will say Aboya and Gordon at center, with Keefe at power forward and playing emergency minutes at center. I also think there is a good chance UCLA brings in another center.
Do you expect any commitments from Junior Day this Saturday?
I think there could be one or two, but I will keep quiet about who I think those players will be.
I was wondering if Chris Markey is gettting noticed by any NFL teams. How about Rutgers' Ray Rice, I thought early last year he was mentioned as a 1st round pick. Where is projected now.
Markey is going to have to take the free agent route, it looks like. As for Rice, I never recall him being a first-round guy because he doesn’t have the 4.40 speed. I hear late second round or early third round for him.
