Cowan's health

| | Comments (7) |

UCLA quarterback Patrick Cowan said he is recovered from offseason knee surgery, and he "feels better than I did at any point since August."
Cowan was injured all of last season, beginning with a torn hamstring in training camp, and a knee injury and punctured lung during the season.

Cowan is the man. He offers UCLA the best opportunity to win games. He seems to instill confidence and has a level of leadership, Ben lacks. Ben always looks good the first game of the year then goes in the tank. He could be a good back up though. Good decision to give Cowan the nod. Of course this could all be a moot point if our OL doesn't protect our QB.

Cowan is a man's man alright, I respect him, but watching him up close in the SC game made me wonder if he has an accurate enough arm for the college game. Chow can only do so much in developing talent that is not there.

And what about Olson has shown you that he is a more accurate passer than Cowen. As a coach myself, Its a heck of a lot more effective coaching kids with a great attitude and a big heart than ones that think they didnt get their chance after 3 years of getting nothing but chances.

Something tells me Chow would gladly take USC's 3rd string QB over Cowan.

Cowan most likely won the job because of his ability to run like heck! From what I am reading the O line is swiss cheese and the Bruins need a QB that can get out of the way of the opposing rush! This offense sounds like another 5 yard slant and lots of screens to come. Maybe the Bruins should run the wishbone and have all running backs in the game, forget the QB position. Arent teams supposed to have the best players on the field anyway? Its not our QB's!

UCLA would probably make Aaron Corp their starting QB if they had him... but for now Corp will just sit as 3rd string QB at USC.
