Cowan's take

| | Comments (5) |

I spoke with UCLA quarterback Patrick Cowan and he said part of the reason the offense hasn't looked so good lately is because everything is so new, but that he felt things were progressing well and he was comfortable in coordinator Norm Chow's offense.
"I'll say this because I'm my worst critic, so I always feel that I could do better,'' Cowan said. "Whatever we need to do, whatever coaches are asking for, I always feel I can do better."
That said, I asked Cowan if he could remove the emotion of it and view his performance this spring objectively.
"Objectively, I feel that I'm doing ok,'' Cowan said. "But I think I can always do better."

I see. Everything is so new - so he can't get it. He must not really have what he needs upstairs to get the job done. It also sounds like he has no confidence in his abilities. Sounds like he beats himself up too much. I don't think he'll cut the mustard this year.

Gym, please advise which psychology clinic you work at so we can tell people to avoid it.

These guys have had four offensive coordinators in the last four years, the previous three being poor coaches.

Gimme a break

Pat Cowan is one of the best quarterbacks that I have ever played with. Pat has always been a modest guy and has more heart than anyone I know. I'd rather UCLA have a QB that is always wanting to get better then one that is content with the way he plays. He will be a great QB, just give him time to learn and grow..dont cut him short

Wow, I didn't realize that Ben Olson comments on this blog. Gym must be his "handle."

The school I learned this at is the the T.I.C. (tongue in cheek) school. I will readily admit I am a Ben Olson fan. The message I posted here was essentially the mirror image of one some genius posted under the "Olson's Take" blurb below. I genuinely don't think Pat is dumb and I don't think he is utterly without redeeming value as a QB. I just get sick of people, and the great majority seem to be Pat fans, for whatever reason, who feel that they have to run down Ben to build up Pat. They are totally disingenuous. So, I will be making stupid comments about Pat which mirror the stupid comments I read here about Ben. It is just my way of pointing out the idiocy of some of the comments posted here. BTW, why didn't I read any indignant responses from any of you regarding what was said about Ben by the dweeb in the "Olson's Take" post? That post didn't offend any of your sensibilities? I wonder why?
