``I'll know it when I see it''

Five quarterbacks took snaps for UCLA on the first day of spring practice, and for the first few practices at least, all five are in the running to be the starter. Most likely though, the race will come down to Ben Olson, Patrick Cowan and JuCo transfer Kevin Craft.

So what is new coach Rick Neuheisel looking for in his QB?

``It's a hard thing to describe. It's someone who can take control of the huddle, look people in the eye and get them to believe that he knows what he's doing. And then, doesn't just execute a play but executes an offense. He knows how to get first downs, can make a big play, has the ability to take fast action and make it slow motion.

``It's not something I'm going to have to have somebody about, I'll know it when I see it.''
