Impact players

One of the players getting noticed this spring is redshirt freshman cornerback Courtney Viney. He was the defensive scout team player of the year last year, and is getting a long look at cornerback and on special teams this spring.

Asked why he's paid Viney so much attention this spring, UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel said:

``Just cause I like him,'' Neuheisel said. ``He's such a competitive guy. You can tell who has got that competitive button that when you press it you get more out of him. Courtney's in that category.''

Monday, I asked defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker which other unsung defensive players who've had good spring's thus far and he specifically mentioned Kyle and Korey Bosworth and defensive end Tom Blake.
