King no Duke

Remember Mater Dei High of Santa Ana wing Taylor King, who committed to UCLA coach Ben Howland before he played a high school game?
Well, he wound up at Duke, but that isn't lasting. King is transferring from Duke. I'm sure UCLA will come up in the conversation, but I don't see it being a fit, unless something changed dramatically.
When King decided he wasn't going to attend UCLA, he didn't call Howland. And the Bruins didn't try to change his mind about pulling back his commitment.

Why should the coaching staff try to change his mind when at the time Stanback was fully committed. We all see that Stanback has already improved ever since he arrived in Westwood. We know what's he's capable of doing. We want player who wanted to play for us not after he can't get playing time at other school.

I'd take him. Give the guy (the kid) a 2nd chance to do right. We can always use another good player and we can always use depth. I wonder where he'll end up...

well... hes not panning out so why should we take him? if there was an extra scholarship laying around then maybe. is he like a michael roll type player? if so id rather have roll, cuz like, hes a bruin. buuut 2nd chances are doable too, he can ride the bench until he proves he can learn to play some D and he gets a bruin blue blood transfusion and gets rid of that satanic blue devil blood lol.

Sorry, but Duke rejects go to places like Cal and ASU (Boykin & Boateng). They do not go to UCLA. King would be an even worse fit at UCLA than he was at Duke.

My guess is he'll end up at Gonzaga.

State Farm just isn't getting the mileage out of having Coach K as their pitchman.

Maybe Imodium AD should give him a call.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
