Lanis to retire

| | Comments (3) |

UCLA offensive tackle Aleksey Lanis, who has been plagued by knee injuries much of his career, is retiring and taking a medical scholarship. Lanis was considered to have NFL potential, but has been besieged by injuries throughout his career.
He was projected as the starting right tackle, which now would fall to never-used third-year sophomore Sean Sheller.

Thats awful. I really liked Lanis and we sure could've used him this year. I wish him the best of luck.

Horrific news; the absolute last thing we need is to lose any of the OL, let alone one of our best.

They ought to have an open try-out for offensive line. With 40,000 high achievers on campus, they might find a couple big former high school all-leaguers or all-CIFers. I know were talking Div. I, UCLA, here but they might find some help. Maybe they should try the shot putters. Things don't sound too good and with no OL you could have Reggie Bush back there and it won't matter.
