Love not attending Wooden
As we brought to you a day ago, Kevin Love is not attending the John R. Wooden Award on Friday. Here is a release from the Love camp about it.
April 10, 2008 Kevin Love Unable to attend this years Wooden Award Dinner
Kevin is deeply honored to be nominated along with some of the finest players in the NCAA for the prestigious Wooden Award. To be included with this years nominees and mentioned in the company of the past recipients is humbling. “There are few more important things for young people then having the opportunity to receive a good education. The scholarships that have been given through this award have been instrumental in achieving this goal.”
Unfortunately Kevin has a very limited opportunity to be with his family as they talk about the decisions he faces regarding basketball and his education before he must return to class at UCLA. He has spoken to Coach Wooden regarding his concern about missing the dinner and Coach Wooden fully supported Kevin’s choice. “I am concerned about disappointing the people who have supported me this season, especially those in Southern California. I hope they will respect my decision to spend some time with my family and continue to support me and UCLA.”

Love's "camp" (?) In the words of Steve Lavin, it seems that Kevin Love is officially a "table guy."
In other words, the die has already been cast for him to be sitting at that table near the dais of David Stern on that June telecast on TNT...
Are you kidding me? The John Wooden award is the basketball equivalent of the Heisman! I can't imagine any nominated player not attending this event. Frankly this is an insult to UCLA, the entire basketball team and especially to John Wooden regardless of his press release to the contrary.
I am in disbelief! I am very surprised that the Dan Guerrero/Ben Howland has not contacted Kevin about the seriousness of this decision.
Everybody knows he is turning pro so why all the last minute drama? That decision was made last year. Saying he must go home and discuss this with his family is less than genuine and in fact simply dishonest.
Bad Bad decision!!
Come on Mikey. Get off your high horse. Coach Wooden himself supports Kevin's need to discuss his future with his family so who do you think you are to be critical?

How is it a bad decision if John Wooden supports it? I put a lot more credence in his opinion than yours. Get off your high horse!
Sorry for the multi-post. I don't know if it's the site or my comp, but things sure are moving slowly.
