Luc story

UCLA junior power forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute will join freshman center and sophomore guard Russell Westbrook with an announcement regarding his future today, and sources said he will announce he also putting his name in for the NBA draft.
Like Love and Westbrook, Mbah a Moute will not hire an agent to retain his college eligibility, sources said.
Mbah a Moute, a versatile defender, averaged 8.8 points and six rebounds in an injury-plagued season. The 6-foot-8 Mbah a Moute battled two sprained ankles and had a concussion, and missed six games because of injury.
He nearly put his name in the draft last season, but elected not to after long deliberations.
While his main value could be as a defender, he can guard nearly every position on the floor, his offensive game is a big question.
Mbah a Moute shot 47.8 percent from the field, but many of his points came on close-range shots. He hit just 20 percent from 3-point range.
Love and Westbrook, it has already been reported, will announce they are putting their names in the NBA draft, but will not immediately sign with an agent.

no offense to Luc, but I guess they will let anyone in the NBA draft now. Luc is definitely NOT NBA material. yeah he plays Defense but other than that what does he bring to the team? He can't even dominate in the NCAA, how is he going to contribute in the NBA? wow! I am really shocked by this news. I can see Love, Collison, and Westbrook in the NBA, but not Luc.

Good move for Luc. There is absolutely no reason for any junior to not do this. He puts his name in, gets evaluated, and if the scouts think he's ready, he'll go. If they don't, he'll stay. There's absolutely no downside to this for Luc.
he can also hurt himelf in the evaluations. luc - plain can't shoot. that is going to be very evident in the work outs and is going to leave a lasting impression in the scout's minds.
he may improve his shot by next year but won't be allowed to re-participate in the work outs.
i actually think luc could do quite well in the nba - hes certainly athletic enough -- but he NEEDS to improve his shot. another year at UCLA would allow him to do this.
i'm not sure why luc is doing this. does he expect to get drafted after a 9/6 season in which he hit 20% from 3-point range? sure, he's athletic, but he needs this extra year. he'll be one of our top two scorers if he stays... why not hang around and make SURE you'll be drafted?

"Lasting impressions" aren't very lasting when it comes to scouting. If he struggles with his shot in the evaluations, and he improves his shot, and it lasts all season, they're not going to avoid him because he couldn't shoot when he was a junior.
And if there's a scout out there who doesn't already know he struggles with the jumper, and that scout can't read a stat sheet, then that scout probably won't have a job next year. It's not like it's a big secret.
I just heard Coach Howland on AM570 and he said that the 2:00pm Press conference was only for Westbrook and LRMAM was not going to be part of that. Coach Howland also said that the school was holding a press conference to introduce the new women's hoops coach.
One writer touched upon this earlier. Maybe Howland is running too tight of a ship over there. He wins, but at what cost. His style is not exactly showtime, and he is a control freak. Maybe the kids don't like playing for him, and will bail at the first opportunity.
Yeah, they'll bail at the first opportunity to be drafted in the first round and make a couple million guaranteed.
You can always tell the $C trolls. They're only marginally smarter than their players (being that they apparently have rudimentary computer skills).
