Neuheisel on Howland

When you're dealing with Rick Neuheisel, you always have to remember he's not only UCLA's head football coach but an alumnus. Saturday, he practically sprinted off the field after practice to go watch the men's basketball team play Memphis in the Final Four -- and I'm told he toyed with the idea of flying to San Antonio if the Bruins had won, but decided against it. So I had to ask how he was recovering from the Bruins heartbreaking loss in the Final Four...

``I'm very disappointed. No, that's probably the wrong word, disappointed. I mean `disappointed' (for them), more because of how much they wanted it and how close they got,'' Neuheisel said. ``I think we've been spoiled around here. To be in three straight Final Fours speaks volumes about them. My hat's off to Ben (Howland) and his staff and all the players.

``I've got my fingers crossed that they like each other enough that they all want to stay together another year.''
