No parental influence
UCLA power forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute was hoping his parents would travel from Cameroon to see him play in the Final Four, but he received word they will not make it. His parents are yet to see him play in person for UCLA.

I don't know why, but that last sentence made me damn near tear up.
I know they are as proud of him as we all are.
Any idea why they are unable to make it?
Seems to be a recurring thing for him every season. I don't know the circumstances, but I'm actually disappointed in his parents. I know they promised last year as well. Sucks.
Soooo sad. I'm sure it's money driven. I think the whole Prince thing is over done and don't think they are very well to do. Otherwise, why would they let their child go to Florida to play HS BB in the first place? It's because, like most of us immigrants, they wanted a better life for him. I'm sure it's not because they don't want or care too be there. I really feel for him. This is truly sad. What child wouldn't want their parents to be there to experience their most proudest moment and what parent wouldn't want to be there as well?

Maybe Dohn and the Daily News can fly them in to interview them, without breaking any NCAA rules.
BruinFaithful, OR...just maybe his parents and he understand the value of obtaining an education in the US.
While your generalization on immigrants may very well be true, there are also a lot of people from overseas who come to the US, get a degree from a good university, then go back to their homeland.
You're "sure" it's money driven?? His parents are no longer well to do? Unless you're a family friend or other kind of insider to the situation, I don't think it's fair for you to make these kinds of comments.
I remember reading somewhere that Luc said his parents never ask him about basketball but rather about his classes/grades. Maybe they don't come to see him play because basketball is secondary to the education he is receiving. If so, how refreshing in today's sports-driven culture!
