OL worries

Offensive line remains a concern for UCLA, and much of it has to do with no experienced depth. Injuries are not helping either in that right tackle Aleksey Lanis (knee) and right guard Nick Ekbatani (ankle) are dealing with injuries, and the second team offensive line is not doing well.
"Until we feel like we've got a second group that can go out there and be competitive and move the ball and not fumble a snap and not jump offsides, that's going to be a major concern,'' UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel said.
During Saturday's scrimmage, the second unit consisted of four players -- Brandon Bennett, Jake Dean, Sonny Tevaga and Mike Harris -- who have never taken a collegiate snap, and a fifth player (fifth-year senior Aaron Meyer) who spent last season on the scout team.
The first team was Sean Sheller, Scott Glicksberg, Micah Reed, Darius Savage and Micah Kia.

Brian,

Off-topic, but do you know if Taylor King contacted Howland or anyone at UCLA before committing to Villanova? Wasn't he supposed to come visit at the end of the month?

I wasn't a fan of him coming to UCLA, but if he dissed UCLA twice, that would be ridiculous.

Brian-

Great coverage of Spring practice- the good, the bad and the ugly. I don't think that Neuheisel naysayers will be able to attribute any UCLA success to his predessessor's effort.UCLA Football seems pretty thin right now. All the more important that we changed head coaches.

Watching a football game (or basketball) tht mearly pits the athleticism of one team against another is boring. I would much rather see a battle of heart and brains. Next season will be a great challenge. Great!

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
