One step forward, three back

UCLA is involved with several unsigned high school senior big men -- Krys Faber of L.A. Ribet and Ater Majok of Americnan International School -- but it doens't appear likely they will sign with UCLA. Majok has been offered a scholarship and UCLA is trying to get him to visit.
I asked UCLA coach Ben Howland if he was willing to take a big man for next season for depth with the idea of recruiting over him, and setting up a situation where said player would likely see his role diminish in subsequent seasons.
"Not really," he said, speaking of no one in particular but only on a philosophical level.
