Press conference tidbits

| | Comments (7) |

Here are a few quickies from the press conferences today:
Kevin Love said he wanted to continue to keep in touch with UCLA, and said "I want to help this school financially'' and he wanted to make his mother proud and still get his degree from UCLA one day.
He is not signing with an agent, but his father, Stan, said it was protection against injury and also "in case his stock drops through workouts, although I don't anticipate that."
Guard Russell Westbrook said he would likely remain in the draft if, after workouts, he was projected to be a top 20 pick.

Hey, FYI: Westbrook is projected as the 9TH OVERALL pick by the Chicago Bulls on www.nbadraft.net - and that is projected higher than Love (13th to Portland) and Collison (20th to Denver). Mayo (USC), Lopez (Stanford) and Bayless (Arizona) are all projected higher (Nos. 3-4-5) overall in the draft than any of the UCLA three. Of course, what do these draft prognosticators know? You're exactly right, they're just guessing ...

So, Luc did not join Russell in his press conference after all? I am sure he will declare along with Josh and DC sometime soon but not today, huh?

hey INK.

iirc, Pruitt was told he was going to be Detroit's first or second pick. With 2 in the first round, they bypassed him twice and he ended up in oblivion.

Bottom line: you can get mixed signals EVEN IN THE CAMPS.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
