Readying for FB

I was on campus yesterday and happened to catch some of UCLA's offseason conditioning workout, and I was impressed by the tempo and energy of it. The approach, at least on this day, was one of quickness and hustle, with coaches imploring players to "sprint" from drill to drill.
One player I can't wait to see is red-shirt freshman safety Glenn Love. His footwork was fast, and he glided in the drills I saw. I know defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker was high on him last year, despite the injuries that led to the red-shirt, but he looked smooth and really athletic in the drills.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
