Scouting UCLA

UCLA point guard Darren Collison said one of the reasons the offense had so much trouble was Memphis' decision to leave the Bruins' power forward unguarded for 12- to 16-foot shots. It allowed the Tigers to double team center Kevin Love, and also impacted Collison's play.
"Any time I penetrated, the (power forward) that was guarding (UCLA's power forward) was the one that was came over and helped,'' Collison said. "They did a good job of scouting. You have to give them credit for that."

I guess that says that Kansas decided that Luc couldn't hit the mid-range jumper reliably and they decided to double Kevin instead...all in all, probably not a bad guess going in.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
