Spring Practice tidbits
Hey,
Ramona Shelburne making a pinch hitting appearance for Brian and Jill who are in transit to San Antonio. The first day of spring practice just finished up and Rick Neuheisel said he was pleased with the energy the team showed on the first day, even though things were a little rough around the edges offensively, while the team learns yet another offensive scheme.
Couple quick hits before I get my notebook done:
--Brigham Harwell practiced, looked good and, perhaps more importantly, said he felt good afterwards.
--Raymond Carter was wearing a red jersey, but seemed really excited to be on the field again. There was one drill (that involved extensive cutting) where he had to be restrained by one of the coaches from ``doing too much.'' He said afterwards he doesn't think he'll be cleared for contact during spring ball, but said he's been sprinting and cutting for about three weeks.
--All the quarterbacks got about the same number of snaps. Think of the first two weeks as the first two rounds of a golf tournament: everybody's in it until they start making cuts.
--Khalil Bell was out on the field but just went through walk-thrus and said he wanted to feel 100 percent before he came back.
--There were a few rough exchanges between newly-converted center Adam Heater and the QBs. Afterwards, Heater and Patrick Cowan stayed late to work on the exchange.
--In terms of atmosphere, things seemed sharp and organized. Practice flowed pretty smoothly for a little over two hours, followed by a 15 minute stretching session at the end. As far as rah-rah enthusiasm, it was there, kind of.

Thanks, Romona.
