Answers, Part IV

Not a question so much as a comment/suggestion for the tech guys: would it be possible to put one post out at the end of the Q&A day with all of the questions and answers? For those of us who can't check the blog during the day it's kind of a pain (relatively) to view each page in order.
The reason I don't do that is because it would take too long to read and would bore most of the readers. Today, for instance, there will be more than 100 questions. That is 10,000 words, and to ask folks to scroll through that mish-mash I think would be a turn off and make reading the blog much more difficult. The idea of a blog is to have quick-hitting information.

There seemed to be more flexibility in admitting football recruits by the academic admissions committee this past year which allowed for the enrollment of a few players who would not have been accepted in prior years. Do you expect this increased flexibility to continue this year given that current players are continuing to do well in the classroom?
From what I was told, it wasn't increased flexibility on behalf of the admissions folks, but rather better preparedness from the football offices in presenting cases.

You mentioned Prince looked the best amongst all of the QB's who attended Clarksons Camp. What other QB's at his grade level and the grade level below him were there? What other QB's performed well? What were Prince's strengths and weeknesses?
Among the other quarterbacks there were Jimmy Claussen, Dayne Crist, Josh Nunes, Richard Brehaut and Terrell Pryor. I was told Brehaut and Nunes both performed well, but I didn't ask about every quarterback there. Prince's footwork and arm strength were what people were talking about.

Now that we've received a committment from Brehaut....who's next? What are some of the potential recruits to commit in the coming days and weeks? Any chance on Phillip?
My pick for the next commit is JUCO offensive tackle Donovan Edwards, who will be on campus shortly.

What is our strongest position this year. I'm guessing defensive tackle position??
You got it. Brigham Harwell is an NFL talent, and Brian Price is a first-round talent. Plus, there is quality depth at the spot.

Did you ever ask Hollins, Bozeman and/or Fay (or others) what they thought of Steve Lavin as a coach? Was he worse or a better coach than many thought? If I recall, Hassan Adams said he didnt go to UCLA because Lavin did not work the players hard in practice.
I did, but all they ever said was Howland was different in the way he worked them. They said Howland was more intense and preached defense, all of which has been reported time and again. None said Lavin was a joke or couldn't coach, if that is what you are getting at.

Scott Glicksberg is listed on the latest depth chart as weighing 269 pounds, a very light weight for a potential starter at offensive guard. Is that an accurate representation of his current weight? Do you think he is strong enough to be effective at that position? Do you believe Ekbetani will be starting over him by the opening game of the season?
Glicksberg, I believe, is up to around 280, and he should put more weight on by the time training camp begins. I don't know if he is strong enough to be effective at that spot, but I know he is the best UCLA has right now. And I know he is tough since he went through spring ball with a separated shoulder and will play the 2008 season with it. As far as Ekbatani, he will be trained as a backup center as well as a backup guard, so right now the idea is Glicksberg is the starter, and I expect it to remain that way unless injuries become a factor.

Do the football players seem pleased with the training regimen instituted by Mike Linn? Do they think it is more effective than the old program under Doc Kreis?
As of now, the players love what Mike Linn is doing. It is structured, intense and they are seeing results. Linn is incorporating a lot of stretching into the workout program, which players believe will cut down on injuries. One of the complaints with Kreis was his lack of adaptability to the position of the player.
