Answers, Part IV (really)
Sorry for the broken link on the fourth set of answers. Here they are:
What kind of playing time can Aboya really expect with Morgan, Stephenson, Keefe and Gordon in front of him anyway??
Again, I am not factoring Stepheson into the equation because I'm hearing he likely will have to sit out the year as an NCAA transfer, although I expect him to apply to have the year waived because of his father's health.
What do you know about the rumor Mayo wanted in at UCLA, but was declined b/c Love gave the thumbs down? Personally, I don't buy it (could be wrong). I don't think Howland would ever consider it b/c he doesn't like taking kids w/ checkered pasts.
From the folks I talk to and trust, I never thought that was the case. That's all I'll say about it.
Coach Neuheisel recently told a booster group that Darius Savage will one day play in the NFL. Has Savage really looked that good in practice to merit such good comment?
It's too early to tell how good he can be, but in my discussions with Neuheisel, I know he thinks Savage has the strength and footwork to be a tremendous offensive lineman.
Do you have any more information as to why Chace Stanback decided to transfer? Is he the one that you have been saying might transfer? Any idea where he may end up?
I was told it had nothing to do with playing time, and, for now, will leave it at that. I know as early as December there was talk he would transfer, which I asked him about on several occasions, but he always pushed the talk aside. (I've been told since that he didn't want to be a distraction to the team, which I respect.)
I was told he is going to look hard at schools in the mid-Atlantic region of the country. He has a lot of family in North Carolina, so he could be looking at an ACC school (not Duke or North Carolina) or SEC school.
Brandon Huffman won't share his thoughts on the hiring of Nikki Caldwell as the new Women's basketball coach. What's your take?
She is very impressive to speak with, and the folks I talk to about her say nice things about her coaching ability. The question UCLA needs to ask itself is what should the expectations be? Is she expected to content with Stanford for Pac-10 titles? After all, she is still one of the lowest paid coaches in the conference, despite the significant bump in salary she received compared to what Kathy Olivier was making.
