Inside track
The NCAA West Regional Championships are at Cal State Northridge Friday and Saturday, and UCLA has a bundle of athletes competing. Yes, this is where you qualify for the nationals.

Olympic hopeful
Last week at the Big Throwers Classic in Salinas, UCLA senior All-American Greg Garza threw an Olympic “A” standard in the discus, a personal-best throw of 211-8. It qualified him for the the U.S. Olympic Trials June 27-July 6 in Eugene, Oregon. It also means if he finishes in the top-3 at trials, he is makes the U.S. Olympic team and will compete in Beijing later in the summer.
