Scholarship crunch
Plenty can change by the time August training camp arrives, but UCLA may have to be creative when it comes to its scholarships for the football program this year.
With an incoming freshman class of 22 (including Crespi of Encino quarterback Kevin Prince) and 63 scholarship players already enrolled, UCLA is at the NCAA limit of 85 scholarships.
However, that is subject to change to allow Colorado transfer Kai Maiava, who already said he was transferring to UCLA, and JUCO offensive tackle Donovan Edwards, if he so chooses, to attend UCLA.
More transfers are possible, as is a change in plans in having Prince arrive in time for August training camp, not to mention more medical retirements. From my understanding, injured quarterback Patrick Cowan, who is having surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee, could take a medical retirement to free open a scholarship.
Also, keep in mind all scholarships must be renewed on an annual basis.

I think Dylan Rush just transferred out and that opens another scholarship. Someone else just took a medical retirement also, can't rememeber the name.
Maybe Lanis?
Rush and Aleksey Lanis were already factored into the scholarship numbers.
