Take the poll: UCLA or Tennessee?
It's May 1, so that means it's four months away from Rick Neuheisel's debut when UCLA opens the season against Tennessee Sept. 1 at the Rose Bowl. It's never too early to start making predictions, so take the poll.

About Inside UCLA
This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.About this Entry

Call me an optimist but I don't think the Vols are going to crush us. We're playing at home and you know the fans and players will be pumped up for Neuheil's debut.
Tennessee is breaking in a new QB, a new OC, three new offensive coaches, and an entirely new offense and play book. So, they'll still be learning their new system just as much as UCLA. I think our defense is good enough to keep the score down. I just don't know if we have enough juice on offense to keep pace.
Should be a good game. I think Tennesse wins but it will be closer than many expect.
All this poll shows is that Jill has been chomping at the bit for Brian to leave on vacation so she could take her own polls. For the record, I'am going with the second "other"
That senario is that at the half, with Olson throwing for -25 yds 3 int, and a broken fingernail, Coach Neu spots me in section 17 doing the 8 clap. He has me suit up, take the field, and lead our Bruins to a 21 pt. comeback and a victory over the Vols........................Then I woke up.
Well, it's good to be optimistic about the team itself so I won't argue team strengths and weaknesses but their is one problem with the home field advantage theory. It happens for the first two weeks of the UCLA schedule every year. Students aren't at games.
That's not a knock on the student body or their school spirit, it's just how the schedule of classes go. The season opener is on September 1st, the academic year doesn't start until the 21st. Obviously the out-of-state kids aren't there yet and the it seems some of the locals aren't in school mode yet either.
The one game I went to before the school year started was week two vs. Rice in 2006 (yeah, I know it's just Rice but it's still a game) I think the announced attendance was around 22-25,000 which was generous by at least 7-10,000 spectators.
And the Vols are from the SEC where even the lowly Gamecocks get over 30,000 for their spring game.
I'm just saying.
All this poll shows us is that Jill was chomping at the bit for Brians vacation to start so she could do her own polls. For the record, I chose the second "other"
That scenario is at the half Olson has -28 yds passing 3 int. and a broken fingernail. Coach Neu spots me doing the 8 clap in section 17, and has me suit up. Coach Chow turns me into Troy Aikman in 15 mins. and I lead our Bruins to a 21 pt comeback and a victory over the Vols............................................................OK..OK.. that happened last Saturday after the scrimmage, but then my damn kid woke me up when he heard me screaming NORM.....NORM....
Maybe if ucla announced that the ucla-Tennessee game was actually a basketball game, it might attract an extra 10,000.
Just thinkin' out loud here.
Charles, its strange to see you actually writing that its good to be positive. when your post are always negative like this one
Yes, it was wrong of me to emasculate the field leader by saying he would perform inadequately and be taken out of the game due to a broken fingernail.
Wait... no someone else did that.
My prediction?
Rose Bowl is filled to capacity, and the overwhelming support of the huge turnout of fans cheers on an equally overwhelming triumph that spurs talk of a possible national championship contender.
Oh, wait ... those fans are all dressed in orange T-shirts and caps ... oh, well, at least the concession stand guys had a good day in Pasadena.
