Well, and so what can you say bad about Wooden?-- Except as an outsider, he was pretty hard on referees (more harsh than others, I cannot say); he was blessed (in his words) with some of the greatest basketball talent in the world-- Gail Goodrich and Walt Hazzard in his first championship in 1964; Lew Alcindor in the 60s; Sidney Wicks et al in the late 60s and 70s; Walton in the 70s; and several others in the mid-70s, their names escape me. All in all, a college basketball coach's dream, talent-wise, but of course, Wooden did make it happen.
