Joh wins second U.S. Women's Amateur Publinks
UCLA's Tiffany Joh won the U.S. Women's Amateur Publinks for the second time. She beat USC recruit Jennifer Song, one of the top amateur golfers in the world, 2&1 in the final.
Here's the release from UCLA:
UCLA senior wins the title for the second time in three years.
UCLA All-American Tiffany Joh won her second U.S. Women's Amateur Publinks
title in three years Saturday at the Erin Hills Golf Course in Erin, Wis.
She defeated Jennifer Song of Korea, 2&1, clinching the victory with a
halve on the 35th hole.
Joh rallied from a two-hole deficit after the 28th hole and played her
final seven holes in three-under par to become the fifth two-time winner of
USWAPL crown, now in its 32nd year.
After a bogey at the 28th hole left her two down, Joh matched Song's birdie
at the next hole. When Song made a bogey at the 30th hole, Joh cut the
deficit to one with a par. The 31st hole was halved, but Joh squared the
match with a birdie at the 32nd hole, a par 5. She assumed a 1-up lead at
the 33rd hole with another birdie and went 2-up with a par at the par 3
16th after Song bogeyed. At the 17th, both players made par and Joh
clinched the victory.
In the morning match, Song held a 2-up lead as Joh made seven bogeys in the
round.
