Lindsey Pluimer, Chris Joseph Named UCLA's Pac-10 Medal Winners
Winners will be honored at the State Farm Pride of the Pac-10 Luncheon.

Lindsey Pluimer (women's basketball) and Chris Joseph (football) were announced today as 2007-08 Pacific-10 Conference Medal winners. A Conference Medal is awarded annually to each member institution's outstanding senior male and female student-athlete based on the exhibition of the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.

The Conference Medal winners will be honored at the State Farm Pride of the Pac-10 Luncheon held in Los Angeles in conjunction with the Pac-10 Men's Basketball Tournament next March.

Pluimer was a standout from start to finish, becoming the first UCLA women's basketball player in the NCAA era to earn a start in each game of her career (123 games, the third-most in school history). She finished her UCLA career ranked No. 12 in scoring (1,556 points), No. 10 in rebounding (737 rebounds), No. 6 in blocked shots (93) and No. 7 in three-point shots made (84) and became one of just five Bruin players ever to record career totals of at least 1,500 points, 700 rebounds and 75 blocked shots. This past season, she was selected as the Toyo Tires Pac-10 Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and also earned honorable mention AP All-America honors and first-team All-Pac-10 acclaim after averaging team-highs of 14.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.1 blocks. She also earned CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII and first-team Pac-10 All-Academic honors for the third-straight year. Pluimer graduated with honors with a degree in Communication Studies.

Joseph started every game in which he played during his final three years as a Bruin. In 2007, he moved from guard to center and anchored the offensive line. He overcame knee surgeries as a freshman and a sophomore to enjoy a productive career, both on and off the field. An outstanding student, he earned an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship, the 63rd UCLA student-athlete to earn an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship and the 17th in the sport of football. In addition, he was a two-time first-team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America selection and a three-time Pac-10 All-Academic honoree. He owns a 3.95 GPA at UCLA and is majoring in Geography. He is also a candidate for a Rhodes Scholarship.
