Mbah a Moute in the NBA draft

| | Comments (5) |

Luc Richard Mbah a Moute has decided to remain in the NBA draft and will forgo his senior season at UCLA, coach Ben Howland said today.
"Luc had a great career at UCLA, and I'm really proud of everything he helped our team accomplish during his tenure as a player at UCLA," Howland said. "He was the freshman of the year in the conference, won three Pac-10 titles and started in three Final Fours, but, more than anything, he is a winner.
"I'm sure he'll continue to provide that great attitude and work ethic at the next level in the NBA," Howland added. "I will always be grateful and appreciative of Luc. He's an outstanding player and an even better person."

I wish Luc the best of luck, but this is probably the biggest mistake he will ever make in his life. If he doesn't get a contract, he will not have a degree, he will not be able to play in college. He will basically have to play in Europe and make a quarter of the money he would have made had he come back for his senior season to raise his stock.

I wonder if his decision has to do with not wanting to play Howland style ball anymore.

I do think it has something to do with Howland's style. But will he not have a degree? I thought he was going to finish this summer but maybe i am wrong. Brian, do you have any insight on this? I hope he won't leave like Love and hurt our APR. Thanks...

I don't believe he'll hurt the APR. The school year is over, and he completed all his classes for the year.

I read somewhere that he too, like alfred, will be graduating early. so ya gotta give him credit for manning it out under howland style ball and completing his degree. however I agree that he's making a huge mistake.. but honestly what are ya gonna do. it's his life. just would've loved to see him play another year in college for his sake and ours.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
