More Olympic stuff

Here's information, courtesy of UCLA, on former Bruins.

Former hurdler Jonathan
Williams (400m hurdles) will run for Belize in the Beijing Olympics.
He has already been named to the team. He finished competing for UCLA
in 2005.

Also.... former Bruin Ysanne Williams is running in the 800m final at
the Jamaican Senior Championships on Sunday. She also serves as a
volunteer distance coach for the Bruins. She won her heat on Friday.
And, senior Keneisha Creary is also competing on Sunday at the
Jamaican Championships in the high jump.

This blog is absolutely brutal without Dohn. If I see one more track/womens golf/soccer/Olympic post I'm gonna pull the trigger. This blog has become as successful as it has based on FOOTBALL and BASKETBALL. I realize it's a bit of a dead period, but how about a post on last weeks football camp or this weekend basketball camp.

Based on the poll, there are people who would like information on sports other than football and basketball, but heavy on those sports. I usually try to post the sport in the subject line - ie Olympic stuff - so if you don't want to read it, you don't have to.

The title of the blog is "Inside UCLA" not "Inside UCLA Football" or "Inside UCLA Basketball". There are other subscription sites that specifically deal with UCLA football or basketball. Jill is doing a splendid job in the absence of Brian. Just like she said, you don't have to read it...

Hey Bruin_67

That's why I love this Blog. I can obtain all of the Bruin BB and Football info. pretty much anywhere. And yes I love BB and Football. But I also love to hear how softball and all of the other great sports / athletes that attend UCLA or former Bruins.

Jill, keep up the great work.

By a 44% margin fans of this blog voted to have a heavy mix of Football and Basketball along with IMPORTANT Bruin news. When Jill, Tim, and Ramona update this blog the overwhelming number of posts are non Football and Basketball related.

Tell me that Byron Moore de-committing from UCLA to go play at USC isn't a bigger story than simply forwarding press releases that UCLA puts out?

Dohn use to tell people during the Q&A's that he only covers Football and Basketball, therefore, asking questions regarding other sports was not relevant to this blog.

A poor choice of words in my original post gave off the impression that I don't respect and appreciate the other writers contributions to this blog, this is not the case at all. However, I still believe that a better job could be done obtaining relevant information on "the big two" sports.

I know this post was entirely too long. I just felt the need to clarify. i better go before my boss realizes what I do at work all day!

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
