Here is the second set of answers:

How many scholarships does the football team have available for next year's recruiting class? It really doesn't matter. I think when all is said and done, UCLA will offer the maximum 25 because of attrition with a new coach.

what is your take on our upcoming football season, any predictions? (i know your opinion will be geared towards accuracy, not hope). I maintain if UCLA is bowl eligible, it will be a good season. Having watching spring practice and Norm Chow call plays in the spring game, I know this staff is tremendous. I think Bob Palcic will do a great job coaching the offensive line. However, the schedule is brutal, and the lack of talent and experience on the offensive line are huge red flags for me. Right now, I think UCLA will go 6-6.

How is ucla doing w/ josh smith, 10 bball recruit? Is bradley looking elsewhere since Snaer got an offer or does this tell us Jrue is one and done?My sources said UCLA is doing well with Snaer, and remain committed to recruiting Bradley, although I think that will be a hard one to land. As far as Smith, UCLA is in the mix, which is all that is needed for a 2010 kid at this point.

is it at all possible to conduct another poll regarding the content of this blog? while you were gone the blog was flooded with junk like olympic swimming and women's track, stuff NOBODY but jill cares about. No need to run another poll about it. I know the majority of folks want football and basketball news, and that is how I will run it. If I find other interesting news from another sport, I will post that as well, but this blog is built on football and basketball.

Still down the road a bit, but when they do finalize plans for the renovation of Pauley Pavilion, where do you see the the Bruins playing their home games? Staples' schedule might be too crowded and with the nat'l spotlight the program now receives...why would they want to play at the urinals that are the Sports Arena or the Forum? As I reported back in January, the idea is for UCLA to play at the Forum, with a Pac-10 weekend scheduled for Anaheim. The thinking with the Forum is UCLA will be the primary tenant (the church that runs it said they would give UCLA first dibs) and the Bruins would not have to be tucked in between the Lakers, Clippers, Kings and concerts.

When the time comes, could you ask Dellins and Howland if they would consider the new state-of-the-art arena that AEG will have completed out here in Ontario. The Lakers are opening the arena in October with an exhibition game. I'll ask about Ontario, but I don't see UCLA traveling more than an hour to play home games on a regular basis.

With the two recent de-commits from the local area do you see a scenario where Eric Scott is brought back into the program in some capacity? No scenario. He is about to be confirmed as head coach of Compton Centennial. That ship has sailed.

There have been some rumblings from recruiting "experts" that Kendall Williams has been less than impressive this Spring. Although these evaluations should obviously be taken with a grain of salt especially since he's so young, have you heard if the UCLA staff appears to be upset with Williams' level of play? If so, do you think Howland will be more reluctant to give out verbal offers so soon considering that the two times he has done so (if Williams is in fact dissapointing) have ended less than favorably with Taylor King being the other example? Do you ultimately think UCLA and Williams may go seperate ways?Man, this question(s) is long. First, no I haven't heard them being upset with Williams' play, or development. They remain happy with him. I don't think it changes how Howland will offer scholarships, especially since it is non-binding and if a kid doesn't develop the way UCLA wants, it is easy for them to tell him to look elsewhere without it being a public relations nightmare. As for King, it didn't seem to hurt UCLA in the long run since the Bruins went to three straight Final Fours and now have the top recruiting class in the nation.
And as for Williams, it's too early to tell where he winds up.

Although I read the blog mostly for the football and basketball updates, I enjoy hearing about which Bruins and former Bruins are going to the Beijing Olympics. Honestly, an occasional update on some other sports or something high profile like the Olympics, is welcomed information in my opinion. Keep up the good work!

football and basketball are the bread and butter of the blog, Brian, but as Steve said, some of that other "junk" is very welcome by many of us as well, especially in an Olympic year. It's Ucla sports that I - and I trust a great many others - care about, not just football and basketball with a Ucla slant.... Thanks to Jill and to you

Thank you barrya and clone12 for agreeing with me. I love UCLA Football and UCLA Men's BB as much as any of you, but, being a TRUE Bruin, I enjoy hearing about the other sports as well. If you don't like to read about them then just SKIP THE POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And lay off Jill. She did a great job of covering UCLA in addition to all her other stuff.

I'll add that the other content is important to the blog as well - particularly during the off-season for football and basketball, when there really isn't a ton of blog-worthy items there.

saxylady,

Just because I'm not interested in reading about Women's Snorkeling and Men's Lawn Bowling doesn't mean I'm not a "TRUE Bruin."

I thought Jill did a great job. There is no restirctions as too how much content the blog can hold, so I love the updates on the success enjoyed by former Bruins! Plus, nobody commented on Women's Snorkeling and Men's Lawn Bowling so try to show some smarts when posting comments.

"First To 100" doesn't mean anything without the contributions of the non-basketball/football sports. I think it would be a mistake to focus the blog exclusively on football and basketball because UCLA fans are as diverse as their preeminent athletic program. I, for one, would like to see more coverage of womens basketball and womens water polo, but I know Brian's time is limited primarily to FB & mens BB.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
