Here is the second set of answers:

What is howlands take on one and done players? are they worth recruiting? He told me recently he would continue to recruit such players, partly because no one knows for sure who will be the one-and-done players. And they are worth recruiting if you plan the rest of your recruiting around the idea a kid, like Jrue Holiday, could be around for only a year.

Is Raymond Carter going to wear a knee brace or will he be able to shed it by the time the season rolls around.I have no idea, and I don't think he does, either.

Will the basketball jerseys still have the gold "C" on them?? Or was it just for the 100th NC UCLA won?I was told it was only for one year as UCLA celebrated being the first school to win 100 NCAA national championships.

Is Johnathan Franklin going to redshirt? and what position is he playing during 7's?It is not yet known whether he will red-shirt. He has been playing running back.

With the report that Ekbatani was practicing at OT rather than OG in the 7 on 7 drills, how different are the physical requirements of the two positions? What do coaches look for to make you an OT over an OG (i.e. speed, height, weight, technique, etc.) Tackles need to have tremendous footwork so they can move laterally to block a guy trying to get around the corner to get to the quarterback. They are usually taller because it helps with their reach. Guards need to really more on strength and need to be more explosive run blockers, and agility helps in case the offense pulls guards on running plays. Size and athleticism are two of the big things coaches look at when asking a player to move from guard to tackle.

With Luc leaving school early, I'm concerned about depth at the 3 position. Josh will be a senior and Drago will be a junior. None of the incoming freshmen are small forwards. Do you know if we're pursuing anyone other than Tyler Honeycutt from the '09 class? If he chooses another school, who's our second choice? First, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute played power forward. Second, I think Honeycutt winds up at UCLA. Third, UCLA is recruiting others, but haven't yet offered because they are comfortable with who is in the program and since guys like Michael Snaer could see time at the small forward spot.

What are your thoughts on UCLA playing UT? I'm guessing you mean Tennessee in football and not Texas in basketball. But I love the fact UCLA is playing the Volunteers. It's a marquee game against one of the most recognizable programs in the country.

Is UCLA recruiting WR Jemari Roberts? The athlete is from Long Beach,Ca he's highly ranked WR coming from a school not known for football and a 4.0 GPA and SAT:1840. You think a recruit this high caliber would get a UCLA offer instantly. Right now UCLA's main objective is not to land receivers. I know they are monitoring Roberts' situation.

There have been more stories in the national media regarding UCLA Football lately. Have you heard that this a conscious effort on the part of the UCLA athletic department, a directive from Coach RN to get the UCLA brand in the spotlight, the effect of the internet's access to virtually every media outlet, or is it just mere coincidence?I think there are several factors, including UCLA being a nationally-known program, coach Rick Neuheisel being very approachable and open to conducting interviews and a change with the head coach. Neuheisel also is a lightning-rod type of story because of his past, and returning to his alma mater.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
