Here is the third grouping:

Here's my question in hai ku form:
Big Gavin Ketchum
Steroids at UCLA??
New trainer Mike Linn??

Tremendous effort
Drug testing takes place
At all nation's schools

With the upcoming renovation to Pauley, do you think the Athletic Dept. would consider an outdoor game at the Rose Bowl against a formidable opponent (Duke, Carolina...). Maybe at the tennis center on a smaller scale? The tennis center doesn't hold enough, and I don't see Ben Howland agreeing to play a game in an uncontrolled environment. It is an interesting idea, though, so I will float it by some people at UCLA.

this has nothing to do with Bruin Ball, but I was wondering if some time you could ask Norm Chow about his time with Vince Young and what he feels Vince's true potential in the Pro's can be. I will ask Norm about it during training camp. Ask this question again in mid August and I will give you an answer.

Did (RB) Daniel Jenkins from Moreno Valley , Rancho Verde HS ever receive a Bruin offer ? He was outstanding at both UCLA camps . Not that I'm aware of. I will check what is going on with him.

there's now some kind of chainlink fence/gate up between the athletic training center and Pauly, at least on the north side. Is there one on the south side? And most importantly what's the reason for this and how often will it be closed to the general campus?
It is up because of the professional tennis tournament at UCLA in early August. It is done every year, and it will be down shortly after the tournament ends.

i want to work for your newspaper. i can blog about ucla's baseball team, a subject which seems not to garner much attention and might serve a group of us fans who still think about the diamond.I don't think the newspaper would pay you for a blog about a sport that draws 100 or so people to a game, and generates very little public interest. But feel free to post some stuff on baseball under the comments section, or email me information at brian.dohn@dailynews.com about baseball that you think people would enjoy reading.

what are you hearing about the Vegas HS basketball tournaments that are going on now--any new Bruin prospects? No, not at this time. It's the same folks as it has been. The thing is, by this time of the summer, many of the key players are fatigued and it is tough to evaluate them. At least, that is what coach Ben Howland has told me in the past.

can you comment on or ask UCLA how many tickets they have alloted to usc for the game at the Rose Bowl this year? I am really tired of UCLA giving usc like 4 times more tickets than they give us in return at the Coliseum.I don't know how many tickets are allotted, but in the past I was told it was the same amount as USC allotted to UCLA.

What are your thoughts on J'mison Morgan, have you seen him play. His scoring and rebounding #'s were just very good for a national highschool player. Is he the real deal?I have not seen him play, and every time I stop by campus he is not playing that day. I am told, from folks I trust, that he is a good defender and rebounder, but his offensive game leaves a lot to be desired.

The number of tickets that UCLA allots to USC is always the same number that USC gives to UCLA. You may notice more Trojans inside the Rose Bowl than the number allotted simply because of UCLA fans selling their season tickets on the open market and you have Trojans willing to fork over anywhere between $500 to $1,000 for a pair of seats.

I really resent your put-down of UCLA Baseball only "draws 100 or so people to a game". I will have you know that most of the conference games draw sizable crowds in the 600-800 range.

His point still stands. The paper is not going to hire a blogger specifically for a sport that draws 800 fans. Heck, there isn't even a football specific blogger, and that draws an average of over 60,000 fans.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
