Answers, Part XII
Morning, folks. Here is the 12th set of answers after a record number of questions:
How are we faring with Craig Roh as a DE prospect?Ok, but nothing great, I'm told.
What are the updates on Keenan Graham and Shaquelle Evans? Is UCLA actively recruiting Boseko Lokombo?UCLA is recruiting Graham hard, and remains a player for Evans, although he may not decide for some time now. UCLA is keeping up with Lokombo, but has not offered.
Does UCLA plan on offering Marlion Barnett and Everett Benyard? It is yet to be decided.
What have you heard on Isaiah Bowens in terms of how good of a football prospect he is? He has gone under the radar on rivals and scout and seems to stay away from the "media" as much as possible? Basically do you think UCLA is getting a D1 caliber talent with him?I trust the folks at UCLA doing the talent evaluation on Bowens, so I expect him to be a Division I caliber talent.
We always talk about player development, but in your opinion, how has Ben Howland developed and matured as a coach since he's been at UCLA?I think he has a very good feel for his teams, and I think he reads the bodies and the language of his players very well. I've seen much more of that the last few years. He also knows when to back off of them for practices.
Westbrook did an amazing job to fill the role of our best defender when Afflalo left. Do you see anyone stepping up next year to fill Westbrook's shoes?Darren Collison will be asked to do it, but I don't see anyone on the roster capable of doing it to the level Afflalo and Westbrook did the last two years.
Are the bruins planning on offering Noel Beckles and Justin Brown in order to address a need at DT? Or does the coaching staff not consider them UCLA caliber recruits?I don't know if they will offer them, and at this point I don't think a determination has been made as to whether or not they are UCLA caliber players. I think that will play out when the high school season takes shape.

I though Jrue was suppose to be a great defender. Wouldn't he start and fill that role of our best defender?
Brian mentioned earlier that freshman are rarely physically/mentally developed enough to defend at the caliber of Westbrook/Afflalo.
