Best seat in the house?

| | Comments (8) |

As part of his sit-a-thon at the Rose Bowl beginning today, Jim Purol will try to find the best seat in the Rose Bowl (he'll let us know when he's done sometime Friday). Anyone think he/she has the best seat in the house? If so, where is it?

I've got 45 yard line seats in Tunnel 19, press box side. Don't get much better than that.

Also, I have something to say to all you lazy a$$ Bruin fans. My group of 8 ALWAYS stands up on 3rd down to make noise and contribute as the 12th man. Why does 90% of tunnel 19 remain on their butts when our defense needs us? STAND UP! MAKE NOISE! GET OFF YOUR WALLETS! And stop leaving at the end of the 3rd quarter to "beat traffic." Let's take some pride in our football team this year, fans!

My group is out tailgating at the butt-crack of dawn every gameday. We are there from sunrise to sunset. No excuses this year, Bruins!

VB,
I am with on this one. With the new energy that has been created with the new staff, us fans need to do what we can to turn the Rose bowl into a real home field advantage.Let's make 3rd down at the Rose bowl absolute TORTURE for opposing offenses!!! I say BE LOUD AND BE PROUD!!

GO BRUINS!!!

UB says,

I amwith you, VB. (BTW, VB and UB sit in that group of 8 in Tunnel 19.)

Unfortunately, we are in Row 72. So, 71 rows in front of us have "wallet alums" that piss us off every game! First, they rarely stand on 3rd down. We have to yell at them to "get off their wallets." Second, the exodus starts at the end of the 3rd quarter --- winning or losing, close game or blow-out. It sucks to have to have these geezers step over our feet after every play, starting at the end of the third! Have some courtesy! If you are going to leave, leave at the end of three or during a TO. Not, after a play! Third, it pains me to see this "wallets" sell their seats at midfield to opposing fans! At least sell to Bruins!

UB Class of '79 and wishing the fans in 2008 will be loud, boisterous, rowdy, supportive and LOUD (Did I say LOUD, twice?)

Amen, UB. We are definitely going to need the 12th man this season. Particularly for the opening game against Tennessee. Their fans are loud, SEC scum. We need to make them wish they never came West.

GO BRUINS! 56 MORE DAYS!!!

Tunnel 20 here. I'm with you guys on being totally annoyed with the old crowd on the shady side. I was actually asked to sit down one time for jumping up and down after a fumble recovery. (I didn't, screw those people)
So I'm going to say that probably the best seats at the rose bowl are anywhere in the Den, or near tunnel 1 and 2 where all the recent grads sit. Those guys are loud!

Agreed. I went to sit in the Den for the Notre Dame last year, and those fans over on that side of the stadium are loud! The only bad thing about that side of the stadium is that you have to listen to Jeff yell in the speakers for 3 hours. That old fart needs to retire.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
