Familiar face

Former UCLA walk-on receiver Matt Willis remains on the Baltimore Ravens roster and has been a frequent visitor to Spaulding Field for offseason workouts. Willis, a former track athlete at UCLA, took a few years off from football before resuming his career.
With his NFL stature, many of the players I talk to point to Willis as motivation under the "anything is possible" banner.

I saw Willis a few months back and asked him about CRN and there time together in Baltimore. He said that it was a great get by UCLA and that the guy just wants to win. He also said that CRN, referring to the 07-08 squad, would always say that if UCLA had a chance to win it was with PC at QB. So when PC was named starting QB in the spring it was no surprise. Unfortunately PC's career has been cut short. Would have been interesting to see how he would have done under CRN/CNC. As for Willis, he looks much bigger than when he ran track. He must have put on at least 10-15lbs. of muscle since becoming a full time football player. It's always good to see Bruins representing on the highest level.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
