On Moore, Pollard
UCLA lost the commitments of Byrone Moore Jr. and Myron Pollard, but sources told me the Pollard decision could change again.
While Moore Jr. always was thought to be a USC lean if the Trojans offered, Pollard's decision to change to Notre Dame was a bit of a surprise.
However, sources told me there was a chance Pollard could still wind up at UCLA.

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
Would Pollard be welcomed back? I hope not.
I remember when Bateman bailed on us. There was a chance he could, "still wind up at UCLA." Don't take anyone back that doesn't want to be a Bruin. Guys like Golper and Brehaut are players who want to play for us and would never flip.
Perhaps if we refer to him by his correct name, Marlon Pollard, he'll commit to UCLA again? :)
It would be funny if he joins the other top recruits at USC instead...
I don't know the kid personally, but I wouldn't take him back. What happens if he lands here, has a bad game or two and again transfers? Too much of a headache. Best of luck to him though, wherever he ends up.
Bateman probably wasn't going to qualify which is why he chose ASU. Alot easier to be admitted there.

I give him two years tops, then he will be crying to come back home. What a spoiled snot nosed brat. Does he realize how many people would DIE to live in Southern CA? Then he says he wants to be a surgeon. HAHAHAHA. Is this kid completely unrealistic? Let's see, exactly how many Division 1 FB players have become Surgeons? His CA comment reminds me of a scene in the movie Scarface. Hey Marlon, you're going to be working in Indiana, so dress WARM. Good riddence.
Pollards' decision is very hard to understand, for sure. Regardless, UCLA needs to build its own momentum, and I have not seen enough of it. What is stopping recruits from committing, I wonder?
I lived in the South Bend area for four years and attended a number of Notre Dame games. The weather brutal. There's no way to describe it. Actually, there is: The weather there, with the lake effect snows, makes Chicago look downright balmy.
The poor kid has no idea what he's in for and I feel bad for him.

To be a bruin is for life. If you are not sure, then don't come back. UCLA is all about pride (not just in sport but also academically)
If you decide to come back, I am sure most of the us will embrace you with open arms because you will be a part of the UCLA family.

What a wonderful reflection on UCLA fans and alums when you outwardly crap on the ambitions and character of a 17 year old kid. I don't like calling out other posters and Brian doesn't care for it either...but this is over the top.

Look pal. It's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. As a Fan and an Alum. My point is, I don't care what he does. I just don't want him back. I adore and wear my colors proudly and feel privileged to do so and I only want kids that feel the same way.
I liked Coach Toledo's policy of not holding a scholie for kids who flipped. Yes, he is a 17 year old kid, but if he seriously wants to be a surgeon, it will certainly take a huge level of commitment. A level of commitment much higher than the one he gave UCLA and then reneged on. Plus, he utilized extremely bad judgement by visiting South Bend in the summer. Also, another point I tried to make is that most 17 year olds take their good fortune for granted. Overall, I'm just disturbed by today's youth and their lack of commitment. If it was my kid, I would say "Pick a school for the right reasons and stick with it." I partly blame his parents and an environment and institution that allows this activity. Remember, todays reneggers are tomorrows prima donnas.
Byron Moore renegging, although I didn't like it, I didn't take that seriously because USC was his dream school and was essentially waiting for a commitment from them. Also, he gave good plausable reasons for renegging. This Marlon kid however is just delusional.
In closing, relax dude. It's a freaken blog. How funny that you found my view so troubling that it compelled you to supposedly go against your own blog preferences and call me out.
Guys calm down about Pollard. Realize he committed to Dur-el. WIth a new coaching staff there is bound to be some turn over, I'd be more than happy to have him recommit to us, but I'll support his decision to de-commit because the new staff isnt what he signed up for. Bruinfaithful, you're a fan and diehard because you went to ucla, he hasnt that experience so he doesn't know what hes missing out on yet. Hopefully he'll return because he is a very talented cornerback and would be a strong addition to our next class.
