Stover update
UCLA basketball target Anthony Stover, a center out of La Canada Renaissance Academy, said he received a scholarship offer from the Bruins on Tuesday night. However, he said he will not decide on a school until late October or early November.
"I really don't have a favorite right now,'' Stover said. "I'm keeping all of my options open until the end of July. Then, I will sit down and come up with a top five.''
Stover has played well on the AAU summer circuit, which has stirred plenty of interest. Most of the Pac-10, as well as Gonzaga and Connecticut, have offered Stover, but he said he will take visits to five schools in September and October before committing.
*This entry was edited. From now on, I will attempt to include the sport when posting about something that could be ambiguous.

Why must I read halfway through the post to figure out what sport is being discussed. Brian, can you mention the sport sometime early in the first sentence?
OMG you poor thing! Come on BruinGuy! (Why must I read such complaining?)
if you read the title of the post it is "Stover update", meaning it is an update on a previous post. in this case, it was an update on "More hoops recruiting", in which stover was last discussed. i assume this is the reason why the sport wasn't mentioned.
i think a good amount of people that read this blog regularly know who Stover is.
Does basketball not amuse you?
Are you not entertained?? Is this not why you are here??
Here's the deal...
- It would appear that Brian Dohn is a reporter, not a columnist. A reporter's enemy is ambiguity. The post is riddled with ambiguity.
- It was pointed out that this is an update and I should have recalled from memory all of the details about Stover. Bad journalism. Very bad.
- The average fan doesn't memorize all the recruits as they come and go. Mostly go.
- Football season is about 6 weeks or so away. Basketball is 4 months away. The article discusses a center. One would assume it's an article about a football recruit. Bad Journalism. Very bad.
I was just giving Dohn a heads up. If the rest of the "Bruin Nation" feels that an attack upon one of their own is appropriate then so be it. But it's a sad day in Bruin Land when such comments are flamed.
I'm with you, BruinGuy. When I saw that he was a center, I assumed that he was a football player since UCLA has a well-documented need on the OL. It wasn't until I read the bit about him playing AAU that I realized he was a basketball player.
And about regular readers of the blog knowing who he is, I certainly didn't, and I log on at least once a day. And even if I wasn't a regular reader, does that mean that new readers or casual readers to the blog should be left in the dark?
relax guys just poking fun at the fact there is complaint about having to read five sentences before figuring out what sport is being discussed.
i retract my statement that most readers should know who stover is as he is not the most touted recruit, but his name has come up recently in posts regarding bball recruiting and in the Q&A. bball = basketball
Sorry Brian, Commodus has just given your post the THUMBS DOWN.
