Answers, Part II

Here is the second grouping:

RH is under a very large microscope for how he handles players off the field issues, for obvious reasons, how well do you think he handled the Brett Lockett situation? Also have you spoken to any of the players and asked if it was a message well sent?
I’m guessing RH is Neuheisel, but that is just a guess. He said he was going to be tough on players because he was not as tough as he should have been in the past, so I think he handled the Lockett situation well.
As for talking to other players, I spoke to some about it, and the consensus was Lockett messed up and the penalty was just and fair.

I read that you think that Ben Olson can make it to the NFL. Did you think the same of Cowan when he was healthy? Do you think we win more games with Olson or Cowan if he had not suffered an injury?
I never thought of Cowan as an NFL quarterback because he doesn’t have the body or arm strength of Olson. In a vacuum, Olson has a prototype NFL body to play quarterback. He’s big, strong, can see over the line of scrimmage and has nice arm strength.
I don’t know if UCLA wins more games with Cowan or Olson, mostly because Olson hasn’t performed to the level I think he is capable of performing at. Right now, I will say it would be a wash when it came to which quarterback would win more games.

Any update on Alex Stepheson? Do you think he’ll end up at SC?
I know UCLA is still talking to him, and I’ve heard other schools are as well. When all is said and done, though, I think he winds up at USC.

can you compare Marcus Everrett to A. Moutra? Sounds like Moutra is a taller, faster version.
I haven’t seen enough of Moutra to make that comparison. Plus, Everett looked great this summer, and I expect a big year from him.

can you compare Brig Harwell to young Brian Price? At the same stage of their careers, sounds like Brian is ahead of Brig, but Brig has been a bit injury-plagued.
There is no comparison. Harwell played end in his first season, and then moved to tackle. Price is UCLA’s top NFL talent, and I expect him to be a three-and-through guy. Price is the kind of defensive tackle coaches dream about, and I think he is light years ahead of where Harwell was entering their sophomore seasons.

While you’re at it, could you compare Geoff Strand to the most current Uga over at Georgia? I think Jeff’s got reach on him, but Uga is rumored to be trained in Brazilian ju-Jitsu. I personally think Smokey over at Tennessee could take them both.
Uga’s got some bite to him, and in listening to Strand tell the fans when they are supposed to cheer (is that because the fans don’t know themselves?) I wouldn’t mind for Uga to lock on the leg for a little bit. As for Smokey, how can he not take both of them? He’s a bear, isn’t he?

Also, what’s the difference between a jelly-filled donut and an eclaire? I mean, their both basically sweet filling surrounded by fried dough, correct? Why the delineation?
Well, jelly-filled donuts are much sweeter than clairs, and much messier to eat. Eclairs also taste better refrigerated. Man, I’ll be back with another set of answers later. I’m getting hungry.

Any chance Ben Howland lands Josh Smith anytime soon?
He’s a 2010 kid, so I’m not anticipating anything soon.

Elijah Johnson and Avery Bradley are said to have academic issues. Is it thought that they’ll be admitted to UCLA? Does Howland want Johnson if so (and he doesn’t get Bradley)?
I know UCLA likes both players, but at this point both players have some work to do before it goes any further.

how long is UCLA’s contract with Addias? Have they thought about switching to Nike? I think UCLA would sell more me merchandise which would help the university right?
The contract runs through the 2010-11 season. In the past when I asked about a switch, I was always told UCLA liked the way Adidas treated the school. Part of the charm, I am told, is Adidas doesn’t have a boatload of clients, so UCLA feels like it gets treated specially.
