Here is the third set of answers:

You mentioned last week that all the freshman passed the clearinghouse. What exactly does it take to pass?
It means the NCAA certified all the players' academic work from high school and the players are now eligible to play this season.

Is there any schedule set for Saturday's scrimmage for other events or is it just scrimmage @ 5:15?
As far as I know, it is a 5:15 p.m. scrimmage.

With the depth at tailback and the lack of such in the defensive backfield, is there a reason why j frankiln has not been switched to DB?
Because he is performing well at the position, and the coaching staff views him as a running back at this point in time.

Is it realistic to believe that UCLA will end the recruiting season strong and finish with another top-10 class? ie are there enough talented prospects still uncommitted that UCLA has a realistic shot with?
I don't think UCLA will have a top 10 class because it got a late start on this class. As far as uncommitted prospects, in this day and age it doesn't matter if a prospect is committed. UCLA will still try to recruit the player if the coaching staff likes the player enough.

Have you heard from UCLA what they expect the attendance to be for the UCLA-Tennesee game on Labor Day?
Not right now. That is something to check on when the game draws closer. In talking to folks, though, I know UCLA is hoping for at least 70,000, but there is concern about the timing of the game.

Based on what you know now, and what you foresee playing out in the upcoming months, do you think our 2009 class will end up being not as good, about comparable, or better than the 2008 class?
I don't think the class will be as good as the 2008 class. UCLA is behind most other schools in recruiting for the 2009 class at this point. Of course, that can change if the Bruins have a good season and play exciting football.

You've frequently mentioned recruits who have been attending practice. Are these players introduced by UCLA or do you find out who they are through other journalistic means?
UCLA is not allowed to provide the media with information about recruits. It's an NCAA violation.

Is Forcier pronounced "For-Seer" or "For-See-Ay"? Is Jerime Anderson pronounced "Jeremy" or "Ja-reem"?
"For-See-Ay'' and "Jeremy''

Do you believe Bruin fb coaches ever put the second most talented/effective guy as number one on the depth chart solely to motivate the most talented/effective guy to reach an even higher level of play?
They don't do that. They want the best player, at the time, to get the practice reps because all coaches are paranoid that a bad season could end their coaching career. Plus, other players would see through it and it would cost the coaches a certain level of respect.

Silly question but for those of us who have not heard your surname spoken, does it rhyme with with John, Loan, or something else?
Rhymes with Loan, and if anyone wants to Loan Dohn some money, that would be great.

Another columnist wrote an article recently disparaging the remaining QB talent at UCLA. Do you really see a big talent deficit at this position? ...Seems to me that Craft/Forcier lack experience, not talent.
There is a lack of talent, which is why UCLA asked Kevin Prince to come to the school six months before he was supposed to come. Also, don't forget, in a perfect world with no injuries, Craft is the third string quarterback and Forcier is fourth string. Both lack arm strength and both have a tendency to leave the pocket too early. In short, if UCLA thought it had a tremendous quarterback in waiting, there would not be a quarterback competition right now.

How about at 15% with Jill Painter as collateral?

How much of a loan did you need Brian? I assume Cash Call interest rates (99.25%) are acceptable.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
