Here is the sixth set of answers:

Do you believe that UCLA has a good chance at landing multi-sport athlete Tyler Gaffney?
I don't really know, to be honest. I haven't gotten a good gauge on him.

Do you think Rick Neuheisel can consistently recruit top local talent with a mix of solid out of state prospects?
I think he can, but admissions is going to have to help out.

Are the recent de-commits upsetting the coaching staff, or are we, the fans, being irrational?
I don't know if fans are being irrational, but my understanding is the coaching staff isn't too upset. I have heard that UCLA isn't willing to give up on Pollard yet, and will make at least one more run at him.

Who do you feel wins the 3rd string QB job?
I think Kevin Prince wins it.

Does Bell being cleared to practice mean that he's 100%? Carter was cleared only a few weeks ago, and his injury occurred before the start of last season - Why was Bell's rehab time so much shorter?
Everybody rehabs and recovers at a different pace. There was no reason to rush Carter along because being cleared in May or July made no difference. If training camp wasn't next week, Bell wouldn't even be checked to be cleared for a while. And being cleared means he is close to 100 percent, but there could be setbacks from the pounding of practice. It means the knee is stable and will not be injured by practicing.

What are the advantages of both team wearing home colors for the UCLA-u$c game?
Got me? I think fans think it is cool, and it is aesthetically pleasing.

I saw a report on recruiting budgets for universities across the country. It said UCLA spent $640,000 on men's and women's sports. Do you know, or can you tell me where I can find out how UCLA's football recruiting budget compares with USC and other PAC-10 schools?
Each October a school must release its gender equity report, and I believe that includes recruiting budgets. I'm not sure if the recruiting budgets are broken down on that.
Also, here is a link from the Chronicle of Higher Education that may help you.

Is there a current player you are rooting for based on your interaction with that player?
I'd like to see many of them do well. Guys that stand out to me are Reggie Carter, Brigham Harwell, Brian Price, Ben Olson, Marcus Everett, Kahlil Bell and Aaron Perez.

Is there a player from the 2009 class locally that you have seen play that impressed you and not received a scholarship offer from the Bruins?
There are some, but sometimes scholarships are not offered because of things off the court.

What is your opinion of Andy Brown of Mater Dei?
I don't have one. I've only seen him play once.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
