Here is the eighth set of answers:

Is there any thought of moving Nate Chandler to the O-Line? He almost has the size for it, and he's supposedly a very good blocker.
Great idea ...which is probably why UCLA made the move two weeks ago.

One of the Cal Message Boards is imploding over the Donovan Edwards situation. The posters are accusing Tracy Pierson of BRO, and to a certain extent, you, of lying about whether Edwards had sufficient grades to be admitted to UCLA. In light of everything you have read/learned about Edwards, how confident are you in this part of your article on the issue:
"Edwards did not receive the necessary grades."
I'm fine with what I wrote.

Regarding the basketball games at the UCLA gym. I assume that they regulate who plays. Can you explain how the games are setup?
There is a guy in charge of running the games during the peak summer times. He helps set up teams, and which courts games are run on, and also will step in and settle any disputes.

Do you have an update on Lorenzo Mata-Real finding a place with a pro team?
He is still looking to play in Europe, and Spain is his destination of choice. However, I was told this week nothing was yet done.

What was your ballot for the Pre-season AP Poll?
I don't vote in the AP football poll. I vote in the AP basketball poll.

how reliable are your sources on your assertion that Donovan Edwards did not receive the necessary grades ("two Bs") to be admitted to UCLA? Is Tracy Pierson one of your sources on the Donovan Edwards story? Do you ever use Tracy Pierson as a "source" for your UCLA stories?
I don't write stories based on unreliable sources. If I was willing to divulge my sources, I would do so in a story, not a Q&A session. But I can tell you I don't use other media members as sources.

Who do you think our most athletic b-ball player is(i know you haven't seen much of the freshman but gives your best shot)? Is athleticism something Howland looks for in a recruit or does it take a back seat to other attributes?
I'd like to see more of Jrue Holiday to judge his athleticism, but from what I've seen so far it is either him or Darren Collison. As far as what Howland looks for, the athleticism is part of the overall package.

I watched Jrue Holiday and Drew Gordon playing at Collins Court yesterday afternoon (granted its not against D1 basketball level competition) and can say I've never seen anyone command a court like I Jrue did. I have watched Westbrook, watched Collison, etc. play on Collins Court and Jrue seemed like the smoothest of anyone i've seen play

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
