Answers, part XI

Yikes, that was a lot of questions. Thanks for them all, and hope the answers were of some use. Remember, UCLA has its first practice in full pads Saturday, so check back over the weekend to see what is going on.
Now, on to the last set of answers:

Do we have an offered Billy Sanders? Do you know what his interest level in UCLA is?
Yes, UCLA has offered him. I'm not sure of his interest level, but he is interested in a film career and I think it was a good sign he came back for a second day.

Do you have any idea when Kevin Prince plans to take his Mormon mission?
I have not asked him recently, but I thought it would be after his playing days.

Did the tempo remain up when team went to the combined practice on Thursday?
Yes, it did. In fact, at one point the coaching staff was not happy with the speed the offense ran to a drill, so they were sent back and forced to run over again.

Dewayne Walker signed a multi year deal right? Then why would he be allowed to leave after this season and pursue a head coaching job? Would that not violate the terms of his contract? Is there wording in his contract that would allow him to do this? There is wording that would allow him to leave for a head coaching job, and all multi-year contracts include buyouts in the event the individual seeks a lateral employment move before the contract expires.

Great question and answer session, again.

As to the Freshman getting game time, I think it is great. The Redshirt option was getting to be the norm. And I think the discussion about Redshirting threw some light on the issue - maybe it should be used just for those who are not ready to play. Personally, I would like to see more rotation and more people getting to play. Maybe reduce injuries.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
