Former UCLA center Frank Cornish died in his sleep yesterday. Here is the release from UCLA:

UCLA football All-America center Frank Cornish passed away in sleep at his home on Friday evening. Cornish lived in Southlake, TX (near Dallas) with his wife Robin and their five children (three daughters and two sons). The cause of his death is not known at this time.

Cornish, 40, played for the Bruins for four years (1986-89) and started all 35 games of his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. He earned first-team All-America honors in 1989 and was a second-team selection in 1988.

Following his collegiate career, he played in the National Football League for six seasons. A sixth-round selection by the San Diego Chargers, he played with the Chargers, Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars and Philadelphia Eagles. He was with Dallas for the 1992 and 1993 seasons, helping the Cowboys win the 1993 and 1994 Super Bowls.

I am so sorry to hear of Frank's passing. I had classes at with him UCLA, and he was always the nicest guy. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Sad and shocking. Cornish is only 40 however, not 41.
