Craft No. 1?

The biggest development from practice today is quarterback Kevin Craft took almost every snap with the first team offense, a sign he is the leader to be the starter. Chris Forcier took most of the snaps with the second team.
A couple other quickies is receiver Taylor Embree left practice late with a left shoulder injury, but the extent was not known.
Running back Kahlil Bell sat out practice with a sore hip flexor, but I talked to him afterward and he said he felt ok and should be ready to go Thursday.
Defensive tackle Chase Moline missed practice because of illness, receiver Dominique Johnson sat out with a hip pointer and quarterback Osaar Rasshan did not practice because of a sore knee.
And there is also another position change. Jeff Miller is now at tight end after spending his first two seasons in the program on the defensive line.

We have no DT depth at all. Harwell and Price are amazing, but after that, all we got really is jerzy and chase (RICK GO RECRUIT!!!!!!!!, I am getting tired of all the recruiting has changed since i was last in the buisness, go out and adapt to the system)

i could tell jeff miller was done as a d-lineman last time at practice by the way he lacked interest in what coach howard was describing.

What a change for Jeff Miller. Was it voluntary?

The coincidence is that Jeff's brother, Jimmy Miller, is a tight end across town at USC. Not going to happen anymore, but I would have loved to see Jeff line up as DE for UCLA opposite Jimmy at tight end for USC. I think that would have been a first in the history of the rivalry.

Chow apparently will "Craft Kraft" rather than "Force Focier."

At the end of the day, experience at a lower level D1 school and a nationally ranked JC team seems to have vaulted Air Craft ahead of C-Force. Barring a complete meltdown in Saturday's scrimmage, Craft seems to be the chosen one.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
