Decision time on the quarterback?

| | Comments (3) |

Rick Neuheisel said after today's morning practice that he might make a decision today on his starting quarterback. Kevin Craft is the frontrunner. Neuheisel said he slept on it last night but needed to talk to Norm Chow this afternoon.
I'll keep you posted, so check back later. The evening practice is from 5-7 p.m.

While Forcier looked more impressive in the scrimmage, he was playing against our 2nd string defense. Craft will end up being the front-runner to start against Tennessee. I wouldn't be suprised to see Forcier take some snaps in that game too if we are getting killed early on.

I was wondering when RN would announce Craft as starter as they have to start installing the Tenn game plan later this week. I like C-Force and what he can do...but Craft's game experience and better ability to manage the offense seems to have won out.

Scary stuff.

ucla is choosing between a guy who has little college experience (none if you limit it to big-time college ball), and a guy with no experience. Poor old Coach Chow is wondering if his reputation will be going down the drain after Tennessee (Titans that is) and now with ucla.

And across town, on the East side where life and football are much tougher, SC probably will start a guy whose experience was handing off the ball to an All-American, and another guy who has no college experience.

Could be a real downer for L.A. football, but the
East side boys might have the better of it. And come to think of it, the East side boys might even win another National Championship with a break or two.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
