About Inside UCLA
This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.About this Entry

Funny, Brian! Point taken. It's really tough to enter a season with (yet another) new coaching staff on offense and on the OLine, without our top two quarterbacks, and with an OLine on which we have to go with some our our not-nearly-ready subs as starters and with guys who are even less ready behind them.
The HOPE is that Craft can execute Chow's gameplan and complete some quick short passes (to our own guys) and move the chains a bit and we can ride our D and Perez' foot to stay in the game into the 4th quarter and then ride a surge of adrenelin while UT gets a case of the "doubts" - especially after their opener last season in California - to pull this one out. The probability is that this game - and others this year - turns out more like last year's Washington State game which we surprisingly kept close for awhile before they put us away and then stomped us into the turf.
We'll be hoping for the former and hanging in there as fans hoping key recruits can see what's possible and want to climb on board and turn this around bigtime. Thanks for your reporting - keep it up!!
barrya - i think it was more of a matter of fact post than an attempt at humor. and it was jill, not brian. agree with your assessment for the most part; hopefully norm chow and the first game element of surprise are enough to swing things our way.
Palcic has many years of experience and he realizes he needs to put the best 5 out there. The offensive line has to be a cohesive unit and sometimes that requires trying different people in different positions. Palcic is looking for cohesiveness, hopefully he will find it with will bode well for the UCLA offense. If he doesn't feel things are cohesive he will continue to look for new combinations.
Jill, how are Mike Harris and Chandler?
