UCLA moved defensive tackle Jess Ward to the offensive line, and he will work out at left guard once he returns from a knee injury in the next 10 days or so.
Also, a UCLA official said a decision is yet be made on whether or not running back Derrick Coleman will have surgery on torn meniscus in his right knee.

strange move. Hurts our DT depth. We're low at both positions.

Yes, but the skill level of our starting defensive line is probably the best in the nation. They are probably counting on Price and Harwell staying healthy all year.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
