Pre-practice concussion report
Tight end Logan Paulsen and safety Glenn Love are both sitting out practice with injuries. While I need to check on Love's injury (I will have an update later), Paulsen has a concussion, which he received on a clean tackle by Akeem Ayers during a full contract drill in Thursday's night practice.
Paulsen's concussion will keep him out, at least until mid next week based on new protocol for treating concussions.
As I understand it, a player must be symptom free for 24 hours before he can have aerobic activity. If he remains symptom free, he can be exerted on the field the next day. If he remains symptom free, he can go through a non-contact practice the next day.
And if he is symptom free after the non-contact drill, he can take part in a full practice the next day.
In short, if a player gets a concussion during a game on Saturday, the first time he can go through a full practice is the following Thursday.
By the way, middle linebacker Reggie Carter and E.J. Woods remain spectators at practice because of concussions
And by my count, it means WRs Taylor Embree and Gavin Ketchum, Carter, Paulsen, OL Mike Harris, Woods and LB Mike Schmitt all will be out of Saturday's scrimmage.
On a positive note, QB Osaar Rasshan and RT Nate Chandler returned to practice today.
