Pre-practice update

| | Comments (5) |

Health is coming back to the Bruins. Other than the surgery guys, all the injured guys are out there practicing, which is good since it getting close to the time when practice will be geared almost 100 percent toward Tennessee.
Safety Glenn Love, offensive lineman Jess Ward, safety E.J. Woods, tight end Logan Paulsen, linebacker Reggie Carter and receiver Taylor Embree are all wearing red no-hit jerseys, but each are back in practice.
Receiver Dominique Johnson is also back at practice.

Here's some positive feedback for all you cry-babies who can't handle VB's criticism:

I'm very happy to hear that our guys have recovered quickly from their injuries. I hope we can put together a good game-plan for Tennessee. I have a feeling we can beat them if our offensive line will give Craft enough time to throw. I don't care if it was junior college, 44 TD passes is pretty impressive (although I would have thrown 50 myself).

How does practicing in "no hit" jerseys allow them to participate in practice??? The defense is only allowed to tackle some of the offensive players? I would think that would make you play pretty tentatively, lest you accidently cream someone that was marked for non-contact.

Great point. I also always thought it was weird how the QB's could NEVER be hit during camp. Do the coaches prefer the QB's get creamed for the first time during the first game and then fumble the ball because they aren't used to being hit? Sort of odd...

I didn't realize that ex-"Coach" Jon Embree was playing for the Bruins now. Awesome, he's a big body.

You're right. Sorry. Some of these days just run together. I corrected it.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
