Recruiting update
I'm hearing UCLA will host a number of recruits on unofficial visits for the season opener against Tennessee on Sept. 1, although final plans are still being formulated. Most of the committed kids will be in attendance, including Los Osos quarterback Richard Brehaut and Arcadia linebacker Todd Golper. There should also be a number of uncommitted players in attendance.
Also, I'm now being told Columbus (Ga.) Carver High offensive lineman Chris Hubbard will be making an official visit the weekend of Oct. 4, when the Bruins host Washington State.
By the way, here is a story I wrote about whether the defense will have to carry the offense this season, and a notebook that talks about John Hale winning the starting strong side linebacker spot.

This is

So the plan is to invite them to a high profile game that we're expected to lose so that if we win it's amazing for the recruit, if we lose and put up a good fight it's encouraging, and if we lose by the expected margin -- well, it was expected.
I think the point is so that the recruit will be there for a game with a good envioronment. Which is why i am confused about the guy coming in for a game against washington state.
